Potteries Heritage Society has teamed up with Second Look Stoke to publish "The Potteries Good Guide to Christmas Shopping" to help local people shop more ethically by supporting our town centres, independent retailers and local manufacturers.
The idea that our cultural and built heritage can be supported by altering our shopping habits is not new, but collaboration with a new initiative promoting Stoke Town gave us the idea to explore some common ground. Second Look Stoke encourages local people to work together in creative and sustainable ways to make the town better for the future, while our aims include maintaining the character of the Six Towns and promoting the continued use of historic buildings.
We hope that the guide will make people think twice about where they shop, the choices they make and where their money ends up. Christmas shopping can be hard work for some people, so we hope you will find inspiration here and rise to the challenge of thinking differently, supporting organisations that care for our heritage and choosing locally made gifts.
The guide is available below and is being distributed through our social media contacts, and we hope copies will be available in local shops.
