Conservation Areas

What is a conservation area?

Conservation areas are areas of special architectural or historic interest. They are designated by the City Council to protect the best local historic places. Conservation areas provide special protection to ensure that the buildings and features that make them special are conserved. This protection covers things like the demolition of buildings, cutting down of trees and certain alterations.
