PHS's Equal Opportunities Statement was adopted in March 2017 and reads:
Potteries Heritage Society confirms its commitment to equality of opportunity in all areas of its work. All individuals will be treated in a fair and equal manner and in accordance with the law regardless of gender, marital status, race, religion, colour, age, disability or sexual orientation. This applies to our members, volunteers, participants in events and projects, and those who work on the Society’s behalf.
The Society will not discriminate in any area of employment, or in the provision of its services to the public, and accepts its responsibilities to comply with any legislation that may become relevant to its activities, such as the Sex Discrimination Acts 1975 and 1986, the Equal Pay Act 1970, the Race Relations Act 1976, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, Employment Equality Regulations 2003 and 2006 and the Equality Act 2010.
It is the responsibility of all officers of the Society to act in a fair and proper manner and in accordance with this statement. Responsibility for central co-ordination, advice and review of the policy lies with the Chair.
Anyone who feels that they have been subjected to unfair discrimination should take the matter up with the Chair or relevant project leader.
