Power in The Potteries: Evolution of the Bottle Oven

About this event:

Heritage Open Days

Etruria Junction

The Warehouse (next to Stoke Top Lock) at Etruria Industrial Museum
Etruria Vale Road, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 4RB

Wednesday 17th September 2025

17:30

The profile of a bottle oven against the skyline is very familiar to the people of Stoke-on-Trent but the 50 structures that remain chart changes in their design which took place over centuries of development. Join Potteries Heritage Society for an illustrated talk exploring how firing pottery became more precise and efficient as bottle ovens evolved. The event is scheduled alongside the "Power in The Potteries: Energy Exhibition" at Etruria Industrial Museum and is part of the City of Stoke-on-Trent's centenary celebrations.
