Architecture of The Potteries Canals

About this event:

Heritage Open Days

Etruria Junction

Meet outside the Visitor Centre, Etruria Industrial Museum
Etruria Vale Road, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 4RB

Saturday 20th September 2025

12:00

Join the Potteries Heritage Society in exploring the work of millwright and canal engineer, James Brindley, who set the blueprint for the canals of the eighteenth century and the emerging industrial revolution. Discover how the dimensions of the narrow canals and narrowboats were forged in The Potteries. The walk explores the area around the Etruria Junction, where the Trent and Mersey and Caldon Canals meet and is scheduled alongside the open day at Etruria Industrial Museum's Victorian Potter's Mill and "Power in The Potteries: Energy Exhibition".

Add additional names as appropriate. Use this space for anything else we may need to know or you need to ask.
Participants accept that the walk, like any other, involves potential hazards and take part at their own risk. Participants give their consent to the use of any photographs or video images taken on the day in social media or future publicity. Information submitted on this form will be used for event management purposes only and will not be shared with third parties.
